Alterations to Existing Buildings or Grounds. Prior to making alterations or additions to a family child care home or grounds, the licensee shall notify the Department of the proposed changed, including, but not limited to, the following: Room additions to the family child care home. — This is a single story home in which Licensee's own admission, construction occurred in 2021 which was not reported to the Department. LPA and LPM observed at least 6 room additions which were not noted on the original licensed facility sketch. LPA and LPM also observed a trailer in the outside activity area which is being used as an office. This poses an immediate health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.
Operation of a Family Child Care Home. The home shall be free from defects or conditions which might endanger a child. Safety precautions shall include but not be limited to: Poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, firearms and other items which could pose a danger if readily available to children shall be stored where they are inaccessible to children. — Per Licensee, all spaces and rooms are accessible to children if there were children in care. LPA and LPM observed knives located inside the kitchen and personal items in the bathrooms left accessible to children in care. When touring outdoors, LPA and LPM observed a heater, fire pit, electrical cord, paint, gardening tools, lighter and cleaning chemicals left accessible to children in care (pictures were taken). LPA and LPM did not observe any gates or barriers separating this facility from the facility located in the back, BEGUM FAMILY CHILD CARE #197494350.
