Type A(1)
Staff-Infant Ratio — LPA arrived at facility at 7:55 AM and observed census of 7 infants and 2 staff; at 8:00 AM, 8th infant was in attendance, and at 8:12 AM, 9th infant was accepted. Staff messaged the other facility for help, but no one was available to step in until LPA observed Director walked in at the facility at 8:17 AM which poses an immediate health, safety, or personal rights risk to persons in care.
Type B(5)
Fixtures, Furniture, Equipment and Supplies — multiple witness statements that for a period of at least one day, the facility provided care despite the fact that the indoor temperature was uncomfortably high, causing the children discomfort. This constitutes a potential risk to the health, safety, and/or personal rights of children in care.
Notice to parents that site visit reports are available — based on record review, Licensee (L) did not comply with the section cited above, LPA reviewed sample of children's files on 10/09/24 visit. 6 out of 6 sample files, did not have signed LIC9224 for citation date 03/20/24 for verification, which poses a potential health, safety, or personal rights risk to persons in care.
Teacher Qualifications and Duties — based on interviews, observations, and record reviews, Licensee (L) did not comply with the section cited above as staff present at the infant facility are aids and did not have direct supervision of a teacher, which poses a potential health, safety, or personal rights risk to persons in care.
Infant Care Teacher Qualifications and Duties — On 03/20/24 LPA visit, it was determined by observation, record review, and interviews that 2 out of 3 staff were aides and 1 fully qualified infant teacher. LPA observed both aides were left inside the facility with 7 awake infants and engaged in activities, and the fully qualified infant teacher was in the playground with 4 infants and did not have visual observation on the aides.
Buildings and Grounds — LPA interviews and documentation revealed that hazards accessible to children when disinfecting wipes are left on the table where the infants eat, and are stored where it is accessible to children.
How we rate this daycareCalifornia CCLD records›
California pre-grades every violation itself: Type A means an immediate risk to a child's health, safety, or personal rights; Type B means a violation that, if not corrected, could become that same immediate risk. We never escalate above the state's own grade.
🔴 Serious concerns — any of:
- The license is on probation — CCLD requires the facility to comply with specific terms and conditions to prevent revocation of its license
- A Type A violation is on record — CCLD's own most serious grade, meaning an immediate risk to a child's health, safety, or personal rights
🟡 Watch carefully — any of:
- A Type B violation is on record — CCLD's own lesser-risk grade, meaning a violation that, if not corrected, could become an immediate risk to a child's health, safety, or personal rights
🟢 Clean
Actively licensed, with no violations in your lookback window.
Worth knowing: California's public records don't always say whether a specific violation was later fixed, so we don't discount a Type A's severity by guessing at correction status — CCLD's own definition notes a Type A citation "will always be issued, even if the violation is corrected on the spot." A single Type A moves a facility to Serious concerns, matching CCLD's own grading directly.
